INTERRUPT REQUEST CONTROL
LOGIC
There are two sources of interrupt requests to the
host: the LAN Controller and a programmable bit
(SINT) in the ICR register. The LAN controller
section provides for the masking, polling, and
clearing of its individual interrupt conditions. The
sum of the masked LAN interrupt conditions is
’OR’ed with the programmable interrupt from the
host interface section (SINT) and gated by the EIL
bit from the ICR register prior to turning on one of
the seven program-selectable tri-state drivers. The
driver selection is made via bits in the GCR register.
Interrupt disabling should be accomplished via the
ICR.EIL bit, not by changing the interrupt level to
’0’, because during the transition from an active
level to tri-state, false interrupts may be generated.
The Interrupt Request Control logic is depicted in
Figure 6-5.
