External Line Interface Circuitry
The transmit and receive tip/ring connections provide a matched interface to the cable (i.e., terminating impedance
matches the characteristic impedance of the cable). The diagram in Figure 12 shows the appropriate external com-
ponents to interface to the cable for a single transmit/receive channel. The component values are summarized in
Table 19, based on the specific application.

For CEPT 75
applications, Option 1 is recommended over Option 2 for lower device power dissipation. Table 24 shows the power for Option
1; Option 2 increases power dissipation by 13 mW per channel when driving 50% 1s data. Option 2 allows for the same transformer as used in
CEPT 120
applications.
