4.9 Serial Interface
4.9.1 Configuration of serial interface
The S1C6N3B0 Series has a built-in 8-bit synchronous clock type serial interface.
The configuration of the serial interface is shown in Figure 4.9.1.1.
The serial input/output ports SIN, SOUT, SCLK and SRDY are common used with the I/O ports P00,
P01, P02 and P03. The port (terminal) configuration can be selected by mask option. The serial input and
output can also be shared using the P00 terminal as the SIO terminal.
The CPU, via the 8-bit shift register, can read the serial input data from the SIN/SIO terminal. Moreover,
via the same 8-bit shift register, it can convert parallel data into serial data and output it to the SOUT/SIO
terminal.
The synchronous clock for serial data input/output can be selected by software any one of 2 types of
master mode (internal clock mode: when the S1C6N3B0 Series is to be the master for serial input/output)
and a type of slave mode (external clock mode: when the S1C6N3B0 Series is to be the slave for serial
input/output).
