Voice Signal Interface
The add-on board contains the circuitry for condi-
tioning (amplifying, filtering) and digitizing a voice
input signal.
J2 is a 3.5 mm audio jack that allows connection to a
mono microphone. For best results it is recommended
that only high quality Electret microphone is used.
The analog signal from the microphone is amplified
and compressed for noise reduction by Q34, U7A and
the associated passive component.
The amplified and noise-reduced signal is fed into a
fourth order active low pass filter and amplification stage
formed by U2 and the associated passive components.
Potentiometer R5 is used to set the gain of the signal
conditioning network.
The filtered voice signal is then supplied to channel
0 of the ADC (U3) where it is digitized under software
control.
Loudspeaker Connector
If connected (see the section ‘Connecting the
LU7790H2D1A’), J6 outputs the signal from the audio
amplifier and filter provided on the LU7790H2AB0 eval-
uation board. With this circuitry, PWM0 of the
LH77790A/B microcontroller can be used to generate
sound signals. Please see the section ‘Connecting the
LU7790H2D1A’ for details.

OPERATION
A number of Application Notes, as well as software
samples and demo software, are available from
SHARP and provide an easy way to use the functions
offered by the LU7790H2D1A add-on board. The most
recent revisions of these documents and software files
can be obtained from the SHARP Microelectronics
website at www.sharpsma.com.
