INPUT SPAN VERSUS REFERENCE VOLTAGE
Thedifferentialinputrangehasaunipolarvoltagespan
thatequalsthedifferencebetweenthevoltageattheref-
erencebufferoutputVREFatPin3,andthevoltageatthe
ground(ExposedPadGround).Thedifferentialinputrange
oftheADCis±1.25Vwhenusingtheinternalreference.
TheinternalADCisreferencedtothesetwonodes.This
relationshipalsoholdstruewithanexternalreference.
DIFFERENTIAL INPUTS
The LTC1403-1/LTC1403A-1 have a unique differential
sample-and-holdcircuitthatallowsinputsfromground
toVDD.TheADCwillalwaysconvertthebipolardiffer-
enceofAIN+–AIN–,independentofthecommonmode
voltageattheinputs.Thecommonmoderejectionholds
upatextremelyhighfrequencies,seeFigure4.Theonly
requirementisthatbothinputsnotgobelowgroundor
exceedVDD.Integralnonlinearityerrors(INL)anddiffer-
entialnonlinearityerrors(DNL)arelargelyindependent
ofthecommonmodevoltage.However,theoffseterror
willvary.Thechangeinoffseterroristypicallylessthan
0.1%ofthecommonmodevoltage.
Figure5showstheidealinput/outputcharacteristicsfor
theLTC1403-1/LTC1403A-1.Thecodetransitionsoccur
midway between successive integer LSB values (i.e.,
0.5LSB,1.5LSB,2.5LSB,FS–1.5LSB).Theoutputcode
isnaturalbinarywith1LSB=2.5V/16384=153Vfor
theLTC1403A-1,and1LSB=2.5V/4096=610Vforthe
LTC1403-1.TheLTC1403A-1has1LSBRMSofrandom
whitenoise.Figure6ashowstheLTC1819convertinga
singleendedinputsignaltodifferentialinputsignalsfor
optimumTHDandSFDRperformanceasshowninthe
