L64222 DVD Audio/Video Decoder

contiguous memory space accessed over a 16-bit wide bus. In most
cases, this is one 1 M x 16-bit SDRAM for a total memory space of
2 Mbytes. A second1Mx 16-bit SDRAM device can be added for a total
memory space of 4 Mbytes to allow more advanced “trick” play. The
L64222 can also be congured to connect to a 4 M x 16-bit SDRAM for
a total of 64 Mbytes.
The interface between the L64222 and SDRAM requires no external
components. The L64222 pinout allows connection to the SDRAM to be
made on a single PCB layer. During normal operation, the L64222
exclusively controls the SDRAM frame stores. However, it is possible to
access the SDRAM through the host port on the L64222 for testing and
verication, for storing OSD information, and for accessing the frame
stores and channel information.
I/O Signal Descriptions
The L64222 has the following major interfaces:
Host (8-bit microcontroller interface)
Channel (8-bit synchronous or asynchronous bitstream data
channel)
Memory (16-bit SDRAM interface)
Video (8-bit multiplexed digital video output)
Audio (serial digital audio output)
Figure 3 shows the signals, their grouping, and their I/O direction. A
lower case “n” at the end of a signal name indicates that it is an active
LOW signal, otherwise, it is an active HIGH signal.
