work.Thefilterpolefrequency,whichshouldbelessthan
500Hz,willvarymorewithbatterytemperaturewithout
R4.Externalcomponentsshouldbechosentomakethe
TheveninimpedancefromVTEMPtoGND100kΩorless,
includingR4,ifpresent.
DisablingThermistorFunctions
TemperaturesensingisoptionalinLTC4011applications.
Forlowcostsystemswheretemperaturesensingmay
notberequired,theVTEMPpinmaysimplybewiredto
VRTtodisabletemperaturequalificationofallcharging
isrecommendedforrejectingPWMswitchingnoise.The
valueofC1shouldbechosentoyielda1storderlowpass
frequencyoflessthan500Hz.Inthecaseofasinglecell,
theexternalapplicationcircuitshowninFigure4isrec-
ommendedtoprovidethenecessarynoisefilteringand
missingbatterydetection.
ThermistorNetworkDesign
The network for proper temperature sensing using a
thermistorwithanegativetemperaturecoefficient(NTC)
isshowninFigure5.R3isonlypresentforthermistors
with an exponential temperature coefficient (
β) above
3750. For thermistors with
β below 3750, replace R3
withashort.
