The mini-ferrule (1.25mm) is what
allows the LC connector to be half as
large as an SC connector, which
permits a higher termination density.

The KRONE LC Duplex mating
adapter has the same
footprint
as
an SC Simplex mating adapter; this
means that the LC mating adapter
can be used in existing patch panels
in place of SC mating adapters and is
fixed by integrated metal clips.

Because the LC mounts to 1.6 or
1.8 mm cables, the space requirement
for the cable management is less than
for 3 mm cables; this makes handling
during patching much easier.

The fully ceramic ferrule permits
installation in damp and harsh
environments and for use with
high-energy lasers.

The key-style locking element permits
ease of handling (similar to a RJ style
connector) and ensures a high tensile
strength.

Duplex connectors are created by
placing two simplex connectors
together by means of a snap-on clip.
Changing the position of the two
connectors in the future is simple.
The clip can be used with both duplex
and simplex cable designs.
New
developments in optical networking
technology have
led to
the
development
of
small form factor (SFF) fiber optic
connectors. These connectors, combined
with their associated transceivers, reduce
space requirements in fiber optic installs by
as much as 50%. The LC connector is
KRONE's latest entry into the SFF market.
The KRONE LC connector combines the
advantage of higher termination density
with ease of handling, quick installation,
and cost effective
ness.
The connector is available in both
simplex and duplex form. The duplex
version has the same
footprint
as an SC
simplex connector. It is also available with
APC polishing (8°), a unique KRONE
feature which enables singlemode
applications to achieve ORLs of 60 dB.

Applications
LC connectors are normally used in
telecommunication networks, Local Area
Networks (LANs) and other high-density
cabling systems.
LC connectors are accepted around the
world in telco and CATV applications.
They are also becoming increasingly
popular in patching and distribution, both
in public and premise marketplaces.
KRONE's offering supports all of these
applications, especially in the RMG1
series patch panel and in 19" Plug-N-Play
panels.
