Description
Corning Cable Systems’ multimode FDDI-1 con-
nector provides a high performance connection
for Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)
applications. The duplex connector meets the
FDDI Physical Layer Medium Dependent (PMD)
specifications of the American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) X3.166-1989 (R1995).
No screws are required for installation. The top
and bottom simply snap together. The unique
cable strain-relief boot on this push-pull, low-pro-
file connector controls and reduces the cable bend
radius. This design isolates the fibers inside the
connector shell, protecting them from external
cable forces.
The ferrule is compatible with FDDI-compliant
active equipment available in the market. The
Corning Cable Systems connector comes with
“A,” “B,” “S,” and “M” keying options that allow
the user to selectively insert and remove keys
depending on application. The keys are color-
coded and clearly marked with the appropriate
lettering for easy identification during installation
and system rearrangement.
The FDDI-1 connector should be used with
Corning Cable Systems’ FDDI-grade, UL-listed
DIB and Zipcord cables to provide the high per-
formance specified.
