12.0 Onsite Installation
Standard installation procedures for laminate apply in this situation as well, but a few other specific differences
should be noted:
A.
Contact adhesive is generally recommended for onsite installation because a press is not required to
cure the adhesive and because turnaround time is short.
B.
Wooden dowels should be used to separate the adhesivecoated laminate from the adhesive coated
substrate prior to bonding them together. This procedure allows proper alignment of the two surfaces.
Once the laminate is positioned, the dowels are individually removed and the adhesive surfaces are
allowed to bond together.
C.
Adequate pressure is absolutely essential to ensure a good bond. The more pressure, the better the bond
will be. To enhance the bond and to eliminate air pockets, a Jroller should be used to roll the laminate
after it has been applied, rolling from the center of the laminate outward.
